Jessica Simpson

Playing a key role in launching the UK’s first digital newspaper at The Telegraph, Jessica has since held key positions for companies such as Telstra and Suncorp.

Jessica is a seasoned marketer with over 25 years of experience working with major brands across multiple industries. She successfully built and sold her company, Creative Connection, and is now developing a second business focused on marketing consultancy and business training for women.

Her expertise spans strategy, branding, and business development, making her a trusted advisor for businesses looking to grow. She combines her hands-on experience with a deep understanding of marketing principles.

With over 15 years as a tutor for CIM, ADMA, DMI, CMI, and Google Squared, Jessica is a dedicated mentor, helping marketers enhance their skills and advance their careers.

Martin Broadhurst

Martin previously worked at Katapult, a Creative England Top 50 company, building the inbound marketing service within the business.

Martin is a digital strategy expert known for transforming businesses through advanced marketing techniques and AI. His innovative approach has helped companies stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Previously, he played a key role at Katapult, a Creative England Top 50 company, where he built an inbound marketing service and secured HubSpot’s Gold Partner status. His campaigns have delivered success in industries including oil and gas, education, and professional services.

Now an independent consultant and EOS implementer, Martin helps organisations navigate the modern market with strategic insights and technology-driven solutions, making him a sought-after leader in marketing and AI.

Lara Denney

Lara is the co-founder of Sallara Marketing Ltd, a brand and marketing agency serving a diverse range of clients from multiple sectors across the UK.

Lara is a marketing expert with over 20 years of experience working with global brands such as Unicef, Coca-Cola, Red Bull, Molson Coors, and Citi Bank. She has led multi-channel campaigns that have reached millions worldwide.

Passionate about branding and clear communication, Lara focuses on enhancing audience engagement and brand perception. Her expertise lies in crafting impactful messaging that resonates with consumers.

As the founder of Sallara Marketing, she helps businesses grow sustainably by promoting their CSR achievements and supporting purpose-driven initiatives that align with ethical and environmental values.

Jonathan Rogers

Jonathan has built a distinguished career in global marketing, working with some of the world’s most recognised brands, including Mars, Twinings, Thorntons, and Lucozade.

Jonathan is a marketing leader currently serving as Regional Brand Director for Twix. With over two decades in the FMCG sector, he has worked with major global brands, including Mars, Twinings, Thorntons, and Lucozade.

He holds an MBA and an MSc in Marketing and Strategy, providing a strong foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of marketing. A Chartered Marketer and CIM Fellow, he is committed to professional excellence.

Jonathan specialises in developing brand strategies that resonate across diverse markets. He brings real-world insights to his teaching, helping students bridge the gap between marketing theory and practice.

Ann Prayle

A Chartered Marketer since 2003 and CIM Fellow since 2019, Ann has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and education marketing and has been a CIM tutor for two decades.

Ann is a marketing professional with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and education. A Chartered Marketer and CIM Fellow, she specialises in strategy, research, branding, and communications.

As a CIM tutor, she has been teaching for over two decades, delivering online and in-person courses with high student success rates. She also contributes to curriculum development, ensuring up-to-date training for marketing professionals.

Beyond teaching, Ann works as a freelance consultant, supporting SMEs with marketing strategy, research, and communications. She is also experienced in course development, mentoring, and delivering engaging training sessions.

Sarah Alder

With a strong background in digital strategy and communications, Sarah is a marketing consultant who has worked with prominent organisations including ICAEW and Women’s Aid.

A specialist in digital strategy, communications, and membership engagement, Sarah has supported professional services, education, and non-profit sectors in improving their marketing performance.

As Director of Cranmore Digital Consulting, she has advised clients such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, Women’s Aid, and the Royal Economic Society. Her strategic insights and clear recommendations make her a trusted advisor.

Sarah is also a CIM tutor and mentor, supporting marketing professionals in their development. She holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Sussex, a CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, and additional training from London Business School and the University of Hertfordshire.

Charles Hancock

Charles is an award-winning Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby with a wealth of various international industry experience and a passion for helping students achieve their best.

Charles is a marketing professional with over 30 years of diverse industry experience, ranging from apprenticeships to boardroom roles across a variety of sectors. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Academy of Marketing, he specialises in marketing strategy, branding and customer value.

Through Charles’ role as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Derby since 2010, he has been teaching a variety of Business and Marketing subjects, employing innovative and engaging methods that have earned him awards. He also contributes to curriculum development, integrating real-world learning through live industry briefs in collaboration with international and local employers.

Beyond teaching, Charles is an early career researcher focusing on understanding customer value through visual methodologies, particularly the Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique (ZMET). He has published works on this topic and is interested in supervising doctoral students who wish to explore similar methodologies in marketing.

Christian Veasey

Christian is an experienced and creative academic with over 20 years of experience in senior management positions. He is passionate about knowledge transfer and developing student’s potential.

Christian brings a wealth of global commercial experience to his role as a marketing educator, having spent over two decades in sales and marketing. He specialises in key account management, digital marketing, service-dominant logic, and Industry 5.0.

As a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the University of Derby, he leads modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, both in the UK and overseas. Christian designs assignments with real impact, which has earned him the Students’ Union Lecturer of the Year award for Business, Law and Social Sciences in both 2020/21 and 2022/23.

Alongside teaching, Christian is engaged in research focused on well-being and the evolving role of marketing in society. He is particularly interested in how marketing can contribute to personal and societal development through sustainable and ethical practices.

Our leadership team are in a unique position in that they also run leading behaviour change marketing agency, MacMartin. Their work with public sector organisations drives meaningful change in communities, while their experience with global brands keep them at the forefront of industry trends. This deep, hands-on experience ensures our students gain insights that are both practical and purpose-driven.

Claire MacDonald

Claire leads curriculum development and works closely with tutors to ensure high-quality teaching and a standout learning experience.

Claire is a strategic creative leader who blends psychology, design, and marketing to shape impactful learning experiences. As Director of Teaching & Learning, she leads curriculum development and ensures the highest standards of delivery across all courses.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM), Claire holds diplomas in Marketing and UX Design, along with specialist training in Psychology for Designers. Her commercial background includes leading marketing efforts across B2B and B2C companies, bringing practical insight to her academic work.

At MacMartin, she heads up the creative team, specialising in brand identity, UX, and behaviourally informed campaigns. Claire is passionate about design that influences perception and drives meaningful engagement.

Anna Hutton

Anna builds industry partnerships that connect students with real-world insights and opportunities to enrich their education.

Anna is a behaviour change strategist who brings deep psychological insight and purpose-driven thinking to education and marketing. As Director of Strategic Partnerships, she builds meaningful industry connections that enrich student learning and create real-world opportunities.

With a Postgraduate Certificate in Behaviour Change, Anna specialises in audience research, strategic messaging, and intervention design. She has led impactful campaigns for public sector and non-profit clients, with a focus on public health and social good.

At MacMartin, Anna leads on evidence-based behaviour change initiatives, using co-creation and stakeholder engagement to craft campaigns that inspire action and drive lasting impact.

Lee MacDonald

Lee ensures every student feels supported and empowered, creating a learning environment focused on confidence and success.

Lee is a brand strategist and operations expert dedicated to enhancing the student journey through strategic delivery and support. As Director of Student Experience, he ensures every learner is empowered with confidence, clarity, and a sense of purpose.

With a background as Head of Product at a global brand deployment agency, Lee has worked with leading names like Procter & Gamble, Nando’s, and Sony. He holds a Business Studies degree and a CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing.

Now overseeing project delivery at MacMartin, Lee brings a collaborative, solution-focused mindset to every challenge. His expertise spans brand implementation, global campaigns, and high-impact product development.

Digital Marketing Skills Bootcamp

Whether you’re starting out, stepping up, or switching careers, this hands-on bootcamp course will give you the skills, tools and confidence to thrive in a digital role.

Level 4 - CIM Certificate in Professional & Digital Marketing

Ideal for those in entry-level marketing positions or those aspiring to enter the marketing field. This Level 4 qualification offers an in-depth understanding of tactical marketing principles and practices.

Level 6 - CIM Diploma in Professional & Digital Marketing

Designed for more experienced marketers, this level 6 qualification will foster a strategic mindset and equip you with the skills you need to become a leader and progress your career.

Check you meet all these criteria before applying:

  • You’re aged 19–65 (if self-employed, you can be over 65).
  • You’ve lived in the UK for at least 3 years and can prove your right to work (e.g. passport, visa).
  • You currently live or work  in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire.
  • You’re either:
    • looking for a job in digital marketing
    • self-employed
    • supported by an employer who will contribute to your place
  • You’re ready to start work as soon as the course ends.
  • You can join live lessons every Wednesday 9:30am-4:30pm.
  • You can commit to around 10 hours of learning each week for 12 weeks.
  • You haven’t joined another Skills Bootcamp in the last 12 months.
  • You’ll attend a 30-minute screening interview.
  • You’re willing to share personal information with MacMartin, the EMCCA and the DfE. We store data securely under GDPR.
  • You’ll provide evidence of your progress, such as proof of an interview, a new job, or an action plan showing how you’ve applied your learning.
