Delivered over 12 weekly sessions, you’ll cover the full digital marketing mix, gain practical experience with industry tools, and build a portfolio that showcases your skills. The course is ideal for self-employed individuals, career changers, and marketing professionals looking to boost their digital confidence, as well as those seeking their first marketing role.

This bootcamp is delivered by TMLA in partnership with MacMartin – an award-winning marketing agency bringing real-world insight to every session. What you'll learn.

Each session has been carefully crafted by practicing marketers to combine strategic thinking with hands-on application. You’ll explore the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ behind effective digital marketing – with guidance from tutors who live and breathe this stuff every day.

Week 1 –
Introduction to Digital Marketing

Get to grips with the digital landscape. Learn the purpose of digital marketing, the role of key channels (SEO, PPC, social, email, content), how the customer journey works, and how to set effective SMART objectives.

Week 2 –
Understanding Your Audience

Learn how to segment and target effectively, build detailed personas, and apply customer psychology to understand motivations and behaviours. Explore practical ways to gather and analyse insights and use them to plan campaigns that truly connect.

Week 3 –
Branding and Positioning

Discover how to define a brand’s purpose, values and personality. Learn how to communicate consistently across platforms and carve out a strong market position with compelling messaging.

Week 4 –
Websites and Web Optimisation

Explore what makes a website effective. You’ll dive into UX principles, mobile-first design, landing page structure, strong calls to action, and how to track and optimise conversion.

Week 5 –
SEO

Unpack the essentials of search engine optimisation. From keyword research to content mapping, on-page structure to technical tweaks, you’ll learn how to drive visibility and improve performance.

Week 6 –
Paid Search and Display

Learn how to launch a Google Ads campaign. Cover targeting, budgeting, and how to write effective ads. You’ll also explore display advertising and how to measure and improve ROI.

Week 7 –
Social Media Marketing

Gain an overview of the key platforms and their audiences. Learn how to create a content plan, build a calendar, schedule posts, and set up simple paid campaigns to boost reach.

Week 8 –
Email and CRM

Learn how to build and segment email lists, design effective campaigns, and create basic CRM workflows. Understand automation, A/B testing, and how email fits into your wider strategy.

Week 9 –
Content Marketing

From blogs to video, podcasts to infographics – discover different content types and when to use them. Learn how to tell engaging stories and align content to the customer journey.

Week 10 –
Analytics and Optimisation

Measure what matters. Learn to set KPIs, understand GA4, track campaigns using UTM links, and use data to evaluate and improve your marketing performance.

Week 11 –
Campaign Planning and Integration

Bring it all together with integrated campaign planning. Learn to write a campaign brief, align channels, manage budgets and measure against your objectives.

Week 12 –
Professional Skills

Build essential skills like project management, agile thinking, creativity, and personal branding to help you adapt, problem-solve, and succeed in your marketing career.

Check you meet all these criteria before applying:

  • You’re aged 19–65 (if self-employed, you can be over 65).
  • You’ve lived in the UK for at least 3 years and can prove your right to work (e.g. passport, visa).
  • You currently live or work  in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire.
  • You’re either:
    • looking for a job in digital marketing
    • self-employed
    • supported by an employer who will contribute to your place
  • You’re ready to start work as soon as the course ends.
  • You can join live lessons every Wednesday 9:30am-4:30pm.
  • You can commit to around 10 hours of learning each week for 12 weeks.
  • You haven’t joined another Skills Bootcamp in the last 12 months.
  • You’ll attend a 30-minute screening interview.
  • You’re willing to share personal information with MacMartin, the EMCCA and the DfE. We store data securely under GDPR.
  • You’ll provide evidence of your progress, such as proof of an interview, a new job, or an action plan showing how you’ve applied your learning.
