CIM Diploma in Professional & Digital Marketing

Overview.

The CIM Diploma in Professional & Digital Marketing is ideal for Marketing Managers looking to enhance their strategic marketing and management skills. The equivalent to an undergraduate degree, this qualification will provide you with industry knowledge and a solid understanding of the latest marketing trends, equipping you to successfully implement strategic marketing initiatives.

Developed by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), this qualification is recognised globally and is ideal for experienced individuals seeking to advance their careers.

Credits and qualification time.

This qualification is made up of 50 credits, equating to a total of approximately 500 study hours made up of:

  • guided learning hours
  • practical and work-based learning
  • exam preparation time
  • exam time
  • supported self-study time

CIM membership.

Membership with CIM is required to allow students to book exams and access support and resources. All students studying CIM qualifications can join at the Affiliate Studying level for £65 per year.

Fees.

Tuition fees are payable to TMLA prior to starting your course. CIM membership and exam fees are payable directly to CIM.

£2,690 + VAT

CIM Fees:

£660 exam fees + £65 annual student CIM membership (VAT exempt)

For self funded learners, we offer the option to spread the cost of your course over monthly installments.

Entry requirements.

To enrol on this course, you will need one or more of the following:

  • CIM Level 4 qualification, or relevant equivalent
  • Level 4 Apprenticeship such as Marketing Executive, or equivalent
  • Level 6 Apprenticeship such as Marketing Manager, or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, with one-third of credits from marketing content
  • Professional practice: two year’s experience in a marketing role and completion of our diagnostic assessment

The qualification usually takes 12 months to complete,  we offer up to 18 months support for added flexibility.

If you are unsure as to whether you meet the entry requirements, please get in touch and we can advise.

If English is not your first language, you will also need to provide evidence of achieving one of the following English Language qualifications within the last two years: IELTS Academic Module with overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above) or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. We will consider other equivalent alternatives.

Our Level 6 Diploma syllabus includes four modules; two mandatory and two elective, totalling 50 credits. 

Mandatory Module

Strategy and Planning

Gain the skills to lead marketing strategy with confidence. This module is designed for experienced marketers ready to step up, think strategically, and align marketing with broader business objectives.

You’ll learn how to conduct robust marketing audits, assess market dynamics, and use data-led insights to shape strategic decisions. From segmentation and targeting to the development of digital, brand, and communication plans – this module equips you to create integrated strategies that deliver real business impact.

You’ll blend strategic thinking with practical application, developing a full marketing plan alongside an online exam to showcase your capability.

Elective Module

Commercial Intelligence

Step up your strategic impact with smarter, data-driven decisions. This module equips experienced marketers with the commercial awareness to manage budgets, analyse performance, and align marketing spend with business goals.

You’ll develop the confidence to interpret key financial, resource, and marketing metrics – enabling you to forecast for ROMI, prioritise activity, and drive marketing effectiveness. Learn how to create realistic budgets, track performance, and adapt strategies to support wider organisational success.

This module blends insight with action, helping you move from analysis to implementation with clarity and control.

Elective Module

Societal Impact

Marketing has the power to influence meaningful, lasting change. This module empowers experienced marketers to respond to rising societal expectations by embedding sustainability, inclusivity, and ethical practices into marketing strategy.

You’ll explore the evolving social and environmental landscape and learn how to align marketing with wider organisational goals for people, planet, and profit. From developing data-driven cases for change to long-term planning and collaboration, you’ll gain the tools to lead with purpose and build marketing strategies that support both business and societal success.

Elective Module

Brand Proposition

A compelling brand does more than capture attention – it builds trust, drives loyalty, and delivers long-term value. This module equips experienced marketers with the tools to develop powerful brand propositions, reinforce brand identity, and lead strategy with purpose.

You’ll explore how to create differentiated propositions that connect with audiences, understand the role of brand equity and purpose, and manage reputation in a transparent, fast-moving digital landscape. Learn to navigate the key drivers behind successful brand strategy and create lasting brand impact.

Elective Module

AI Marketing

AI is transforming marketing – from customer insights to automation and creative strategy. This module helps you navigate that change with confidence, offering a practical and strategic understanding of how to integrate AI into your marketing approach.

You’ll explore key AI concepts and their marketing applications, understand the broader organisational impact, and consider the ethical, resource, and operational factors involved. Learn how to plan for AI adoption, balance innovation with responsibility, and position your organisation for future success.

Mandatory Module

Customer Journey Optimisation

Exceptional customer experiences don’t happen by chance – they’re carefully designed. This module provides a strategic framework for understanding, evaluating, and optimising the customer journey to build stronger relationships and support business performance.

You’ll explore how to use data and insight to map touchpoints, personalise interactions, and enhance satisfaction at every stage. From journey mapping to performance metrics, this module equips you with the tools to create seamless, integrated experiences that turn customers into advocates.

At The Marketing and Leadership Academy, you have the flexibility to study in a way that suits your goals. If you’re not looking to complete the entire qualification, you can choose to study a single module to build specific expertise in a focused area. This option is perfect for those aiming to enhance particular skills without committing to the full program.

Check you meet all these criteria before applying:

  • You’re aged 19–65 (if self-employed, you can be over 65).
  • You’ve lived in the UK for at least 3 years and can prove your right to work (e.g. passport, visa).
  • You currently live or work  in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire.
  • You’re either:
    • looking for a job in digital marketing
    • self-employed
    • supported by an employer who will contribute to your place
  • You’re ready to start work as soon as the course ends.
  • You can join live lessons every Wednesday 9:30am-4:30pm.
  • You can commit to around 10 hours of learning each week for 12 weeks.
  • You haven’t joined another Skills Bootcamp in the last 12 months.
  • You’ll attend a 30-minute screening interview.
  • You’re willing to share personal information with MacMartin, the EMCCA and the DfE. We store data securely under GDPR.
  • You’ll provide evidence of your progress, such as proof of an interview, a new job, or an action plan showing how you’ve applied your learning.
